Secondary Leader's Award Guidance |

The Secondary Leaders Award for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics is open to all students aged between 11 and 16 years.  The Award is in two parts - firstly the students write a letter of application to become a Secondary Leader for STEM. In this letter they are applying for the 'post' of Ambassador for the school, club or home educated families. They should write about how they help others with their STEM activities and to list the STEM activities that they are currently engaged in, enjoy and would like to do next!
Students are then asked to interview a person who works in the field of science, technology, engineering, mathematics. Help can be given to locate a sutable interviewee via the STEM Ambassadors programme managed by STEMNET. This is an organisation of professionals who have willingly given up their time to further the understanding of their profession with schools and educators. A teacher or responsible adult (where pupils are home educated) will be required to sign and fax: 01254 720650 or post: Leaders Award 6 Beech Street Great Harwood Blackburn Lancashire BB6 7RB the consent form. All correspondance will be between the school or named responsible adult.
