 IMECHE Special Leaders Award for STEM – It’s a mechanical world!
This an individual award open to Primary (5-11), Secondary (11-16) and Advanced (17-19) levels. Deadline 31st May 2011 The next generation of Mechanical Engineers have a huge task on their hands – they must discover, create and improve the technologies that power the modern world. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) are working to inspire and support an awareness of what it takes to become a Mechanical Engineer and the highlight the personal rewards this profession can offer individuals and of course the wider world. The IMechE Special Leaders Award – as usual pupils will be required to send in an application to become a Leader for STEM for the school or college. To enter for this special award the interview that accompanies the application should have a specific dimension – and they differ slightly for each level.
Primary (5-11) ‘How have mechanical engineers helped us?’ Secondary (11-16) ‘What inspires a mechanical engineer?’ Advanced (17-19) ‘What makes an mechanical engineer?’
The chosen interviews: Three students one from each level will be chosen from all the submitted interviews to receive their certificates at a reception hosted by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in London. These students will be commissioned by the IMechE to write a series of interviews that will feature in IMechE websites and publications. A selection from all the submitted interviews will feature on the IMechE's Engeneration, Leaders Award and related industry and education websites and publications.
