 IChemE Special Leaders Award for STEM – It’s all in the mix!
This an individual award open to Primary (5-11), Secondary (11-16) and Advanced (17-19) levels. Deadline 30th June 2010
The challenge for Chemical Engineers in the 21st century is to protect water supplies and the environment, develop clean energy solutions and end the suffering of the millions affected by incurable diseases. To make our Future Life a better life. It's your world… The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) would like young people to discover the diversity of careers and opportunities this area of engineering offers.
The IChemE Special Leaders Award – as usual pupils will be required to send in an application to become a Leader for STEM for the school or college. To enter for this special award the interview that accompanies the application should have a specific dimension – and they differ slightly for each level.
Primary (5-11) ‘How have chemical engineers helped us?’ Secondary (11-16) ‘What inspires a chemical engineer?’ Advanced (17-19) ‘What makes an chemical engineer?’
The chosen interviews: Three students, one from each level will be chosen from all the submitted interviews. A selection of interviews will be published on WHYNOTCHEMENG, Leaders Award and related industry and education websites and publications. Primary (5-11) will recieve £25 Secondary (11-16) will recieve £25 Advanced (17-19) will recieve £25, and a site visit to a local Chemical Engineering Plant.
