 BLOODHOUND SSC Special Leaders Award for STEM - An Inspiration!
BLOODHOUND SSC Special Leaders Award for STEM is an individual award open to Primary (5-11), Secondary (11-16) and Advanced (17-19) levels. Deadline 30th May 2011
BLOODHOUND SSC is the name of a car designed to travel at 1050mph and smash the world land speed record. It is also the name of the most significant opportunity for young people and teachers to become enthused by science, technology, engineering and mathematics a real 21st century challenge!
The BLOODHOUND SSC education team are supporting a Special Leaders Award – as usual pupils will be required to send in an application to become a Leader for STEM for the school or college. To enter for this special award the interview that accompanies the application should have a specific dimension – inspiration.
BLOODHOUND SSC is full of its own inspirational characters from the project director Richard Noble, the driver Andy Green and amongst many engineers individuals like Ron Ayers and Annie Berrisford. The team would like to read interviews that tell how people have been inspired, are inspiring others or have inspired you! The person you interview could be a member of your family, from the world of business, be a teachers or be involved in science, technology, engineer or mathematics as their career. The chosen interviews: Three students one from each level will be chosen from all the submitted interviews to visit ‘The Dog House’ the centre in Bristol where the BLOODHOUND SSC car is to be built and spend a day with the engineers. They will also receive Gold BLOODHOUND SSC memberships so that they can follow this inspirational project from the inside! Runners up in all three levels will receive Bronze Memberships.
