In collaboration with WISE - Women in Science, Engineering and Construction - a special award will be presented to three female students, Primary, Secondary and Advanced.  The WISE Leaders Awards will be for the best letter of application and interview of a female professional engaged in the fields of Science, Engineering or Construction. The Award will be presented by Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal at a ceremony in November.
The WISE Campaign encourages girls to value and pursue science, engineering and construction courses, by working with industry and education to bring colour and relevance into these careers. For more information about WISE follow this link.

The WISE Awards 2009

The WISE Leaders Award challenges female pupils to interview female scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians about what first excited them about their subject, and how they harnessed excitement this to further their careers.  

Three young women Supriya Gopinath (17), Aysha Waheed (14) and Zoe Smith (5) received Leaders Awards from The Princess Royal on the 12th November in recognition of their inspiring contributions to science and engineering. The young women from Newstead Wood School for Girls, Sydenham High School and Oakland’s Infant & Nursery School received their awards at The Annual WISE Awards 2009 which was also celebrating their 25th Anniversary, this special ceremony was hosted by National Science Technology, Engineering and Maths Coordinator, Kate Bellingham, and attended by over 100 guests at the Royal Academy of Engineering.
