STEM BY STEALTH
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) by STEALTH (Learning through practical activities) was coined by a teacher after being involved with Primary Engineer. It summarises our work precisely, by practically applying mathematics and science to 'design and make' activities - both children and teachers are left inspired.
Primary Engineer offers primary and secondary schools the opportunity to:
Develop the skills of pupils
Incorporate the professional development for their teaching staff.
Teachers attend courses with a view to aiding transition and supporting their own primary liaison activities. They then cascade their new-found skills to their registered local feeder primary schools.
Teachers register independently and attend training session.
The project is then provided to pupils through a mathematics framework, enhancing their application of mathematics and science (linked to the national curriculum) through Design Technology actitvities.
Both teachers and students will develop their practical skills.
End result: A new creative curriculum.
Local and regional challenges then take place which culminate with the national final held at the Manchester Communication Academy on Saturday 24th March 2012.
Schools receive for pupils aged 5-7 and 8-11yrs which include:
Site licensed software
Interactive resources compatible with Promethean and Smart boards
Courseware CD: which includes printable teacher and pupil workbooks, presentations, challenge information, certificates etc.
A complete range of projects and resources have been created to support our STEM by STEALTH approach. For a full range of our activities, please contact Christine James on 0161 205 7507.
