The Scottish Engineering Special Leaders Award 2016

For the fourth successive year, the Scottish Engineering Special Leaders Award will be holding its award ceremony and public exhibition at the magnificent Barony Hall in Glasgow generously provided by The University of Strathclyde.

DIGSESLA15

On Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11, the doors of the Barony Hall will be open to the public to allow everyone the opportunity to view the engineering know-how and ingenuity of Scottish pupils. In these beautiful surroundings at least two illustrations of fantastic inventions from every school that participated in the Scottish Engineering Special Leaders Award 2016 will be on display.

TROLLEY

On Thursday June 9 an invitation only award ceremony will be held to honour and present trophies to those highly-talented Scottish school children whose inventions have been selected as age-group winners by a panel of engineering luminaries from academia and industry. Invited guests will also be in attendance for the unveiling of last year’s Doosan Babcock’s overall winner Aidan McCann’s “Shopping Trolley for the Elderly” prototype created by the Mechanical Engineering graduates from Strathclyde’s faculty of Engineering.

GH 050615 PRIMARY ENGINEERING PRESS 16

The Team at Leaders Award and Primary Engineer would like to thank all the pupils, teachers and engineers who have made this such an extraordinarily engineered event which would not have been possible without the support from Scottish Engineering, Strathclyde University and the Engineering Faculty, Doosan Babcock, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Babcock International, Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland, Glasgow Science Centre, Allied Vehicles, IESIS and the many engineers, companies, organisations and councils who have supported local schools.
